Back in Action Jan 23 in LA

LAS VEGAS. NV--  "The Italian Sensation" welterweight Phil LoGreco will return to the ring January 23, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on the first  Fox Television fight broadcast,  promoted by Premier Boxing Champions. Headlining the event will be a showdown between Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero and Danny "Swift" Garcia.

LoGreco (record) will be making his California debut and looks forward to an action packed 2016. "I had four fights in ten months in 2015 so we're off and running with my LA debut," he said. "And I'll be a lot busier in the ring during 2016. While everyone has been enjoying the holidays, I've been putting in the work, and that's a hint of things to come for the New Year from Team LoGreco."

Preparing for the January 23 fight is Phil's main focus, but he won't deny an interest in meeting up with the winner of Guerrero/Garcia, sometime in 2016. "Danny or Robert would be a fight I'd take," he said. "I'm out to make a statement this next year, and either of them is a good place for me to start."

UPDATES

PHIL LOGRECO NEWS

"Italian Sensation" Phil LoGreco pushed his record to 27-2 with his TKO win over rugged veteran Pablo Munguia on Tuesday October 13. With this win, LoGreco  accomplished exactly what he set out to do. "I knew he  would be tough, he said. "Coming off the Spence fight I was already prepared for another southpaw. Getting him out of there in 5 was what I was working for. I needed to keep the pressure, and wanted to do what few others had done before."

Celebration time for LoGreco has been brief. During a short visit home to Canada he filmed an appearance on the popular "Being Frank" show with host Frank D'Angelo which airs Friday, October 30 and is on his way back to Las Vegas, to  resume training, with an eye on returning to the ring in January- but, he wouldn't rule out a fight with Victor Ortiz on the Thurman/Porter undercard or even  Aaron Martinez, who put in good work against Robert Guerrero and pulled off a win over Devon Alexander.  "If  either match could be made, that would be perfect," he said. "I'd look forward to another southpaw in Ortiz, and I'm staying ready. My goal was to take a year from my return to boxing to get back in top form, and I'm there. If Ortiz isn't ready for me, I'll fight in January. When I spoke with Sam Watson that's what we discussed, but I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to fight Ortiz or maybe Martinez in December."

27th win a TKO in Seattle.

Tuesday, October 13, Phil LoGreco punished  Pablo Munguia and scored a fifth round TKO over the Mexican veteran.

LoGreco improved his record to 27-2 with the win,  and accomplished exactly what he set out to do.  "I knew he  would be tough, he said. "Coming off the Spence fight I was already prepared for another Southpaw. Getting him out of there in 5 was what I was working for. I needed to keep the pressure, and wanted to do what few others had done before."

Enjoying the  victory will be brief, as LoGreco is already in motion for his next fight. "I'm going to relax for a week, then get back to the gym, and keep improving. I said when I started back boxing  last December it would take me a year to get back to top form, and I'm almost there.  I've already spoken with Sam Watson, and we're going to work on something big for the beginning of 2016."

Vegas Update

Phil LoGreco  is optimistic and upbeat following his loss Saturday night to Errol Spence, and is moving forward with renewed  purpose.

"Saturday night was the restart of my boxing career, it wasn't a loss," LoGreco (26-2) said.  "It was an opportunity at national exposure. I'm taking a week off to visit my family in Toronto then coming right back to Vegas to start training again."

As for immediate plans, LoGreco revealed he and his team plan are remaining active. "We're looking for another fight possibly by the end of the summer. I feel fresh and other then side affects of cutting 10 lbs in 2 days I don't even feel like I was in a fight."

In addition to his team,. LoGreco also gave credit to his advisors.  "As always I want to thank Al Haymon for the opportunity and  Sam Watson for motivating me to come back to boxing. And my strength coach Memo for helping in the last minute weight cut."

Phil Lo Greco News!

Phil Lo Greco News!
Phil Lo Greco vs Shawn Porter May 18, 2013
World ranked welterweight contender Phil LoGreco (26-1, 14 KO) won a unanimous decision over Rafael Cobos on March 6, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This victory followed a loss to Shawn Porter, who is on the books to face Adrien Broner June 20 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand.

Lo Greco sees the Broner/Porter match as an entertaining fight. “I think it s a good match up,” he said. “The fact that the weight is 144 makes it more competitive because Broner is the smaller guy. If Shawn doesn't have weight problems, I give him the edge. Broner doesn't like to be bullied as we saw with Maidana. Porter has a better style, but can still bully him.”

After signing with Al Haymon in December, LoGreco is now living in Las Vegas, and training at Long Life Fitness with James Long and Miguel Diaz, and is working toward a fight date.
“I expect a fight date soon,” he said. “I'm anxious to get back in the ring. I've got a lot of catching up to do after a two year layoff (before the Cobos fight) so I'm staying in the gym and I'm going to be ready.”

Nicknamed the “Italian Sensation”, Lo Greco has been able to get acquainted with the Italian community in Las Vegas. “I had a great time at the San Gennaro feast, and am really looking forward to visiting the Italian American Club here,” he said. “Their president, Angelo Casarro used to be an amateur boxing judge and is a big boxing fan, so we got a lot in common.”
